Specialist courses for nervous students

All driving lessons are given on a
private and individual basis.
This means that whilst you are on your driving lesson, only you and your instructor will be in the car.
That's known as 1-2-1 tuition.

Some driving schools operate a lesson sharing system where you drive for 1/3 of the time and the other two students who are sitting in the back seat have their lesson for the other 2/3 of the time.

Driving schools operating this way can provide your lessons at a cheaper rate because all three students are sharing the cost.

The downside is you have less time to practice on your own individual skills.

Before you book any lessons check out the type of driving school you are intending to train with. MAL Driving School is always 1-2-1 tuition.

All intensive courses have generous rest periods between sessions

Car sharing is a recognised way for the driving school to cut costs and if you want to go along this route for your training thats your choice.

Difficult or Nervous pupils treated with patience with 1-2-1 tuition

Cost example
Driving school with car sharing student pays £600 for 40 hours sitting in the car of which 13 hours is their own driving practice and 26 hours is watching other students practice. Hourly charge is £600 divided by 13 =£46 per hour.

1-2-1 tuition is 40 hours practice at £720 which is £720 divided by 40 = £18 per hour

With the group training it looks as if you are saving £120 but in fact you are spending more than double the amount of a student training 1-2-1.

The learn to drive in 7 days course will train you in 40 hours spread over the 7 days. Taking your lessons at one per week will take you over a year to learn to drive, when you consider time off for holidays, sickness, lack of money or your instructor is overbooked. You will probably need around 50 to 60 hours using this method.

The shortest route to your full licence

If you are unsure of how you will cope you can book a few lessons before you start your intensive driving course. This will get you used to the car and show you what is involved

The cheaper driving schools may well operate car sharing ,and not 1-2-1 tuition check before you book.
