How many lessons?

The nimber of driving lessons you will need before you can pass a driving test will depend on many factors. The average number according to the Driving Standards Agency is between 50/70.

No two people though are the same and those numbers could be greatly increased or dramatically reduced depending on the various ways a learner driver responds to driving instruction. Listed below are just a few facts that can influence the outcome of lessons:

• How focused are you? Very focused you will need less time.
• How often you take your lessons? Regular or intensive lessons shortens the overall time
• Are you a car mechanic? You will need less time.
• Are you an engineer? You will need less time.
• Are you technically minded? You will need less time.
• Are you logical? You will need less time.
• Are you artistic? You will need more time
• Are you academic? You will need more time.
• Are you a negative person? You will need more time.
• Are you a practical person? You will need less time.
• Do you have a poor driving instructor? You will need more time.
• A lot of missed or cancelled lessons over a 12 month period. You will need more time.
• Are you very nervous or have a negative feeling about yourself or others. You will need more time.

Of course the above list is only general and there are a lot more reasons that you may need more time before you are ready for your test. I would never recommend taking a driving test immediately at the end if an intensive driving course for new learner drivers - you would be an unknown quantity in the art of driving, no matter how well you did in your exams.
