Practical tests are conducted at the Dundee test centre & your intensive course in Dundee will include going along rural & town roads within the Dundee area. 1 week course
The 1 week intensive course in Dundee is designed with the new driver in mind, you can either have your 1 week intensive over a working week of 5 days (25 hours) or a full week of 7 days (35 hours). At the start of your intensive course you will be met either at your hotel, if you are not local or at Dundee railway station, from there you will be driven to a quiet area of Dundee. You will then have the car controls explained to you in a very straightforward manner & a few road procedures will be discussed also. Just enough to get you going, not in depth at this time.

You will drive the car for the first time on these quiet roads in Dundee. All intensive courses in Dundee for new drivers will start this way. Your 1 week course is designed to get your driver training started in the right direction. You will have all the knowledge that you need to know to drive a car safely from 'A' to 'B' but you will not be ready for your practical test.
Modern intensive courses have had to change in line with the practical test & busier road conditions. Although I still see there are driving schools out there still promoting the impossible for most new drivers to pass their test in a week.

By the end of the 7 day intensive course students are usually able to carry out the following tasks with assistance.

• Understanding P.O.S.M procedure
• Understanding M.S.M. procedure & where P.S.L comes into play
• Moving the car away on flat, uphill and downhill roads includng correct observations
• Correct use of mirrors when driving
• Changing gears from 1st up to 5th and 5th down to 1st
• Turning right and left major roads to minor roads and minor roads to major roads
• Navigating mini roundabouts and normal to large roundabouts
• Using your indicators correctly at all times
• Meeting and dealing with other traffic on narrow streets and main roads
• Driving at 70 mph along a dual carriageway
• Turning your car around in the road using 1st and reverse gears
• Reversing around a corner
• Parallel park your car behind another vehicle
• Bay parking
• Stopping your car in an emergency
• Anticipating & meeting traffic safely
• Extensive knowledge will be given to you on the Highway Code
• Drivers attitude, both yours and others. How it affects your driving
• Highway code and it's interpretation to the car driver

Students on the 1 week 5 day intensive course may not achieve some of the above tasks.

How do I pass my driving test?
To pass your test as a new learner driver you will need around 50/60 good quality lessons. It is not recommended to take this many lessons in 1 week though. You will need time to process all of this new information you will receive on your intensive course & you will need time to be able to re-inforce all that you have learned in traffic & other distracting situations.

Intensive Courses in Dundee for the new driver will mean taking the two part course.

Intensive Courses in Dundee for the learner driver who has failed a recent test or two a short 3 day course might be suitable, please me with your circumstance & I will advise you on the best intensive course for your needs.

Intensive Driving Courses in Dundee for drivers with some experience. You should make sure that from your first driving lessons up to your driving test you will have had at least 50/60 hours.

Example: If you have had 20 recent driving lessons then you will need to book a 5 or 7 day course. If you have had 30/40 recent lessons you will need to book a 3/4 day course. Please me though, these are only rough guides

Intensive Course Dundee part 0ne:
The first part of your driver training should be taken as a 1 week intensive course (either 5 days or 7 days). From this intial start to your driver training you will have understood what is involved in driving safely from 'A' to 'B'. You will not be ready for your test.

Intensive Course Dundee part two:
On the second part of your course which could be two or three days of intensive driving you will be driving independently & raising your confidence & experience to a higher level. At the end of this part of your course you will be taking your test. Total driving scool training hours you will have had by the time you take your practical test will be between 50/60. There are no shortcuts to road safety or passing your practical test. These good quality intensive hours have to be put in.

A weekend course can be taken as a Saturday or Sunday only and there is no commitment to book every weekend. You could even book a trial weekend to see if it is right for you.

New driver weekend courses

New drivers (beginners) are advised to start their driver training by having as many lessons as they can over a short period of time. This will help re-inforce the correct procedures for driving away fom the kerb, parking, gear changing & road procedures. A theory test pass is not required for this type of course. An intensive course for new drivers is not intended to get you through your test in a week. Those days have long since gone and if you see any websites out there that say any different, then treat them with suspician. You will learn to drive over a few weekend courses, but you may not be ready for your driving test.

Previous driving lessons experience

Learner drivers with previous experience can sometimes book their practical test at the end of their intensive course depending on what previous experience they have had and how long ago.
Your lessons may have been sometime ago & taken with a great instructor or one of the not so greats. You may have taken a test or two or had over 100 lessons of poor quality either yours through lack of concentration or your instructors lack of attention to your training. Either way, you might be best to book a trial lesson with me before you book your practical test. A trial lesson is not required to book your course unless a driving test is required at the end of your course. Learner drivers with a good training record might only need to book one of the weekend courses.
